Carl Hall is one of Soul music’s best kept secrets, he possessed an in incredible gospel drenched soulful voice. He released two 45’s on the Loma label and one for Atlantic , the other 13 tracks featured here were unreleased at the time. ‘You Don’t Know about love’ is an amazing Beat ballad from 1967 written by Jerry Ragavoy which deserves to be considered as one of the best deep soul records of its era (later recorded by Howard Tate and Lorraine Ellison). The flip ‘Mean it Baby’ is a lovely Soul /Northern dancer. ‘Dam Busted’ and ‘I Don’t wanna be’ are two more uptempo slices of 60’s Soul. The lively ‘Just like I told you’ and ‘It’s Been Such a long way home’ and deep ballad ‘He’ll never love you’ are the bestof unreleased cuts.
