Ex Blackstreet man Dave Hollister returns with a set including some strong soulful R&B tunes. ‘Definition of A Woman’ (the lead single from the album) is a smooth, well crafted groove that flows and rolls and allows the vocals to shine. Hollister has been cited as a potential heir to the likes of Jeffrey Osborne, Howard Hewitt and Freddie Jackson – bold claims but possibly justified. ‘Shortage’ has some delicate guitar touches, ‘Blind’ has a deep soul groove and brings to mind Syl Johnson, ‘One Great Love’ looks back to the 80s for inspiration and is a highlight, ‘Barbershop’ is an ode to times past while ‘Geometry’ has a slamming boogie groove and is primed for the dancefloor.
