Superb 14 track collection of contemporary funk and jazz bands making sounds influenced by 70s Ethiopia. So many highlights here from the spacey Karl Hector ‘Kingdom of D’Mt’ to the elephant march of The Daktaris ‘Musicawi Silt’, The Sorcerers’ mystery filled ‘Cave Of Brahma’, Tezeta Band’s chase theme styele ‘The Viper’ and Les Fres Smith’s big, bold ‘Zil Zil’ the quality is stunning. The Cosmic Analog Ensemble’s Stuzzicadenti is a funky drum led slab of afro-exotica while Anbessa Orchestra’s ‘Lions’ slinks and struts magnificently. Faultless stuff.
