Organist Lonnie Smith release his first album for Blue Note in 45 years ‘Evolution’, and it is a gem. He is joined by Joe Lovano on two tunes and Robert Glasper on one. The album is full of jazzy grooves like his re-working of his classic ‘Afrodesia’. ‘Play It Black’ with Glasper is an opening top groove. Check too his versions of ‘My Favourite Things’ and ‘Straight No Chaser’. Also try the awesome ‘African suite’. Top modern day Hammond organ Jazz.
