Whalum's soulful sax captures the spirit of Hathaway's songs especially powerful is 'Someday We'll Be Free'. Try also the breezy take on 'Love Love Love' and the smoothest of jazzy takes on 'Valdez In The Country'. The groove of the inspirational 'Voices Inside/ Everything Is Everything'. The tribute/ covers CD had started to become too formularized, but then you hear Kirk's Donny tribute and you are listening to a master interpreting a master. Brilliant.
