Super rare on its original release, this 1970 album from Brazil is a favourite among diggers such as Madlib, Gilles Peterson, and Floating Points. Jose Mauro’s ‘Obnoxious’ is an atmospheric eleven track work made up of Mauro’s often melancholic but always engaging voice set to a mix of tempos and rhythms – at times sparse, at others with a hint of lush orchestration. The brooding title track ‘Obnoxious’ is a highlight, as is the gentle ‘Talisma’ which invites the listener close in. The multi-styled ‘Apocalipse’ is also a standout on an album for fans of digger’s Brazilian gems.
