Jazz Funk Soul is a Smooth Jazz super group comprising Jeff Lorber, Chuck Loeb and Everette Harp. This follows on from 2014’s ‘Serious Business’. It is an album of well-crafted mildly funky smooth grooves. There are some seriously strong Smooth Jazz tunes like ‘Our Thing’ and ‘Tuesday Swings’. Try too the riff laden ‘Gamblin’, the pretty ‘Timmendorfer By The Sea’, the funkier ‘More Serious Business’ and the infectious ‘Crusher’. ‘More Serious Business’ is excellent instrumental Smooth Jazz. Recommended highly.
