Incognito main man Bluey has followed up 2013’s ‘Leap Of faith’ with a his second solo album ‘Life Between The Notes’ and it has an unmistakable Bluey feel to it: positive vibes, upbeat lyrics and lots of old school influences saturating the thirteen tracks here. The title track ‘Life Between The Notes’ is a joyous, uptempo dancer while the Roy Ayers feel of ‘Saints and Sinners’ is a laid back, summery head nodder. ‘Trippin On This Feelin’ has a Latin undercurrent that grows into a subtle hip swayer, ‘Tomorrow Never Lies’ again has a Roy Ayers influence but with a more modern, West London feel while ‘Caught Up In The Grey’ has a spacious, airy feel thanks to a more stripped back production. ‘Been There Before’ is a great boogie dancer while ‘Sunships On The Shores Of Mars’ is the jazziest track of the lot that develops into a good groover.
