Brook Benton’s 1970 and 1971 albums have been collated on one CD for the first time and on ‘Home Style’ we hear the strains of his famous ‘Rainy Night In Georgia’ coming through, notably on ‘For Lee Ann’ and ‘Don’t It Make You Want To Go Home’. The southern soul lilt is there throughout with a few exceptions notably on the funkier ‘Let Me Fix It’ and the bluesy ‘Born Under A Bad Sign’. ‘Story Teller’ includes a sincere version of ‘Moving Day’ while ‘Shoes’ is a good southern number on a set more populated with country-soul sounds than otherwise.
