Welcome return for UK soul legend Sean Escoffrey following his ‘Red Room’ album of a few years ago. There are a raft of highlights on a very strong set including the Philly disco inspired ‘When The Love Is Gone’, the classic Brit-soul feel of ‘Healing Me’, the dark and sassy blues edge of ‘Evergreen’ (feat the wonderful Joss Stone) and the sublime light and shade of ‘Love Shine Down’. The infectious ‘Gave Me Love’ has a Truth & Soul feel to it (think Daptone or Saun & Starr) while ‘Barricades’ is another tough slab of dark end soul with retro southern vibes. ‘Live Your Life’ is a powerful head nodder that builds and builds. What an album!
