From 1975, ‘Disco Connection’ is an all-instrumental soul/disco album recorded at Hot Buttered Soul Studios in Memphis, Tennessee from Hayes’ backing band. There’s a broad mix of styles on show here, from the pacey, chase theme style of ‘Choppers’, the energetic and frantic ‘Disco Connection’ to the mellow mood ‘After Five’ and downtempo smoocher ‘Vikkyi’. While not as successful as Hayes’ previous release (‘Chocolate Chip’) this set still struck a chord with his fans at the time.
