Snarky Puppy are now established as probably the leading and most innovative Jazz/Funk band of their time.They return with their first studio album in a decade. ‘Culcha Vulcha’ includes ten original instrumental compositions, spanning their own blend of Jazz, Funk and World music with a twist. ‘Tarova’ is a bright up tempo funky jazz number, ‘Semente’ is a jazzier foot taper with a latin feel and an orchestral approach in places. The more laid back ‘Gemini’ has a wicked subtle bass line. The brassy ‘Grown Folks’ has an interesting rhythm structure and funky backdrop, nearly eight minutes of pure magic. ’Jere’ is another Funky Jazz track, whilst ‘Palermo’ has a more percussive approach as it shuffles along. This is total music, another superb album for their fans that will gain them an even bigger following.
