WEEK 4: ADRIANA EVANS – HER BEST SINCE THE BRILLIANT DEBUT….
The new album from Adriana Evans is arguably her strongest since the brilliant self-titled debut in 1996.
A couple of good compilation of new/recent material, firstly Contemporary Soul Songbook Volume 2 and Jump Start Music both supplied by Soul Unsigned. The latter is compiled by DJ Ginger Tony and the former is possibly the best compilation from the Phil Driver’s label yet.
Independent Soul artist Darnell Kendricks has a new and rather nice album.
On the Jazz side of things, the Contemporary Jazz set – on CD and vinyl is a gem, as is Deep Jazz’s ‘Heaven And Earth’. And if you did not check it on the last couple of weeks the album by Tribe entitled Rebirth is awesome. Just essential!! Check the clips on www.soulbrother.com.
Kent has a raft of new reissues that are worth checking out. See below. Also try the Groovesville USA comp. very strong.
VINYL…..
Just had a delivery of collectors’ vinyl in from the US. Will be on the web site in the next week.

CONGRATULATIONS TO WES BERWISE FOR HIS COLOURFUL AWARD..
Colourful Radio Radio DJ/ presenter and all-round good guy Wes Berwise has been voted the favourite Male Presenter in the Colourful Radio Listener Awards, acknowledging the fact that he has gained the support of his dedicated listenership. Given the array of DJ talent on the station that inclues Gordon Mac and Chris Phillips. This is some accolade for a presenter who has only been broadcasting since 2008, and shows in what high regard his listeners hold him
Wes entertains his fans with two weekly sessions. Wes Berwise’s ‘Soul Food’ show is on Sundays from 1pm-3pm, and is a mix of the latest mid-tempo and classic urban jams; ‘Midnight Encounter’ is from Midnight-2am on Tuesday mornings, and includes Wes’ pick of ‘future classics’, the best of the newest ballads and slow jams, as well as little known gems from the past, which deserve another airing.
Wes’ shows are sponsored by Soul Brother Records and we would like to congratulate him on his success. Wes is a frequent visitor to the shop and customers who have met him would agree he is a worthy winner.
