This fantastic double CD of Nicola Conte remixes and a few unreleased cuts recorded with his combo is a fine example of why the Italian Jazz sound is so popular. Alessandro Magnanini wrote Mario Biondi's 'This Is What You Are'. This group formed by the Dutch Jazz label Kindred Spirits encapsulate the music that is known as Spiritual Jazz. Updated covers of Pharoah Sanders' 'The Creator Has A Master Plan' and 'Prince Of Peace' include a more contemporary vocal/ spoken word. Clifford Jordan's 'John Coltrane' is revitalized, whilst Coltrane's 'Naima' is stunning in it s beauty. 'Ja Mil' is a fine spiritual groove. This is an uplifting set that further enhances the reputation of Kindred Spirits.

The unreleased 'Ginga De Amor' is a joyful shuffling dancer with lovely understated horns. The Lo Greco brothers – bassist Enrico and drummer Gianni - have recorded for the Schema label in the past (as Quintetto Lo Greco). This CD has a similar vibe to the Schema releases and involves Gerardo Frisina's producer. There are 3 instrumental tracks: the breezy 'Iperbole', the heavier 'Turn Up The Heat' and the superb 'Sam Blues' and these tracks are serious grooves. Six vocalists contribute over the remaining 10 cuts. Colonel Red sounds great on the driving 'Much More'. Alice Ricciardi glides across the jazzier 'Just In Time' but every track is a winner. If you like Frisina/ Nicola Conte/ Mario Biondi…this is for you. Superb.

GIANNI BASSO AND IRIO DE PAULA – RECADO BOSSA NOVA CD £14.95
The Déjà vu label in Italy is quickly establishing a reputation for releasing fine contemporary Jazz. Less full-on than the Schema label, the music recorded for the label (Fabio Nobile and Andrea Pozzi) is more subtle. This sublime album of Bossa inspired Latin Jazz saxman Gianni Basso and acoustic guitarist interpret as election of Bossa classics and Jazz standards with reverence and feel for the music. Tracks like Kenny Dorham's lovely 'Blue Bossa', the wonderful groove of 'Recado Bossa Nova' and a delicate take on 'The Lamp Is Low' seduce the senses. The upbeat shuffling 'Cartao De Vista' and Sergio Mendes' 'Groovy Sambas' are great takes too instilling the spirit of early 60's Bossa due to the fine musicianship as well as Basso's Stan Getz-ish playing.

Another fine album from Déjà Vu label, this contemporary album owes much in style to classic early/ mid 60's Blue Note and especially draws on the zest of Art Blakey and Horace Silver's Hard Bop.. For instance, 'Soft Tick' has a Soul Jazz feel and has a lee Morgan/ Hank Mobley like handclapping like groove to it. The barnstorming opener 'Tall Stories' is a sublime slice of funky (in a Jazz sense), whilst 'Long Island' swings relentlessly. There are several covers the strongest of which is a fiery version of Horace Silver's 'Nutville' that retains the feel of Horace's music, though Miles' 'Sippin At Bells' has a nice mellow feel. The album's closer 'Navarra' is another slice of full-blooded Hard Bop.

Veteran Latin percussionist records his first set in sometime and the mix of subtle Afro Cuban and Jazz is a total joy. Featured as a Jap import a few months back, this set of grooves from the West London team is now available to a wider audience. 2000 Black is mainly a product of Dego and Kaidi Tatham and has an 80's influence to the synth bass led grooves. 'Simple Sacrifice' is a bass driven groover ft Nadine Charles on vocals, 'So Right' and 'Whats it To be' are more uptempo ft Ferraz on vocals. 'Move Over' ft Lady Alma,

Native, with this album need to be added to the Premier league of Japanese Jazz groups alongside Quasimode and Sleepwalker. The flute led 'Shine' flies along on a breezy groove. Killer tune is the modal sounding 'Closing Session' – a track that has just about everything. 'Blow UpThe Jazz' does what is says on the tin – an intense powerful groover. 'My Little Suede Shoes' adds a more subtle touch. Every track has its own dimension with different paced tempos, excellent percussion, good melodies and the pianist is awesome!

ROY HARGROVE BIG BAND – EMERGENCE CD £15.95
Roy is nothing if not diverse. His albums traverse Hard Bop, Latin, Funk etc. 'Emergence' is possibly his most straightahead set to date, using the platform of a big band gives the album quite a different dimension. The arrangements and production are sublime. Check the subtle changes of groove on the glorious 'Ms Garvey' or the infectious 'Mambo For Roy' with its Latin inflections and serious horn runs. Latin vibes return for the vocal 'La Puerta'. A more mainstream Jazz flows through many of the other cuts such as 'Velera' and the lilting 'Roy Allan'. An interesting project that will appeal to lovers of the big band, but also to those that enjoy the rich musical explorations of Mr Hargrove.

Quantic albums are always interesting not to say innovative. You never know what quite to expect. 'Tradition In Transition' is no exception; Quantic takes a Latin route spiced with some Afro beat. On the Afro beat side check the compulsive 'Mas Pan'. After a languid beginning the eight minute 'Linda Morena' hits a wonderful Latin groove, but Quantic would not be Quantic if they did not add their own twist. 'Undelivered Letter' adds an unusual feel courtesy of a Brazilian string section. 'Mambo Los Quantic' is another infectious Latin gem. 'New Morning' is a bright and breezy Latin Jazz Funk tune, whilst 'Arlanita' expresses a cheerful joie de vivre.

This double CD pays homage to one of our music's under-appreciated legends – Leon Thomas. Superb Italian Jazz that swings and flows and with so many great tracks. 'Transitions' has a Coltrane and contrasts with the lighter 'Rolling Stars' with its female scat vocal. The light touch continues with the vocal 'Fly Rome'. 'Walking Fast' is an uptempo funky Jazz groove with strong horns – very Japanese Jazz style. 'Night Travel' hits a Fusion groove, whilst 'Between 6th & 7th' adds a cooler Latin feel.
Throughout the musicianship is absolutely superb. This is a contender for the Jazz album of 2009, given Schema and Japanese releases that is saying something!

It includes some great instrumental tracks, such as the long 'Tunnel', the Schema sounding of 'Thank You' plus the lilting 'Destination Moon' and the driving 'No Problem' – nice piano riff and shuffling percussion, though the vocals are an acquired taste. 'Hear Us Now' and 'Dreamy Smiles' have a cool almost distanced feel. Also try the atmospheric 'Ink'

Tracks like 'Y Funk' sustain the high tempo and vibe, love also the slower walking bassline to 'The Dirt'. This EP/ mini album of 7 tracks comprises reworkings interpretations and remixes. The opener 'Simple Timeless' is performed by Fertile Ground and features the wonderful vocals of Navasha Daya - Soul Jazz magic personified. There are 2 great mixes of the Fusion classic 'Mysterious Maiden' the latter (Yin Yan Club mix) with a Bossa vibe that has the spirit of the original but adds a Latin spin to it. Mark De Clive-Lowe's remix of the exotic Eastern/ Spanish flavoured 'El Toro' is awesome. 'Elevation' has a Coltrane like feel, and his version of clausell's 'Je ka Jo' really works. Finnish trumpeter returns with an strong set of grooves. Jukka's inspiration as a player is Freddie Hubbard, both in tone and style. Grooves like 'Jova' and 'Chip N Charge' sound like Freddie circa early 70's CTI. 'Cadets' and the mellow swinging 'Dark Corner' are equally strong. Try also the Beni Melal version of 'El Aedaps'has a Schema like vibe to it – full on 60's style modal Jazz. A worthy follow-up to his superb debut.

The Quasimode crew return with a set of (mainly) remixes. The sound is in the tradition of Japanese Jazz/ Quasimode. Highlights include 'Take The New Frontiers' featuring Valerie Etienne, 'Love Theme from Spartacus' – vocal version and 'Love Is Everywhere'. 'Tune Up' is a exquisite track remixed by them, whilst their twist on 'New York Afternoon' is superb too.

HYPNOTIC BRASS ENSEMBLE – HYPNOTIC BRASS ENSEMBLE CD £12.95/ LP £15.95
This unusual album is built around a large brass horn section that plays the lead melody plus basslines. 'Alyo', 'Flipside' and 'War' are fine funky Jazz grooves. The double quick 'Party Started' has layered horn lines that interweave and the guys blow! The intricate horn arrangements drive the slower 'Sankofa' coupled with wicked on the one drums, whilst the aptly titled 'Hypnotic' is just that. Lovers of brassy funky Jazz will love this unique set.

MULATU ASTATKE/ THE HELIOCENTRICS CD £13.95
Mulatu (better known as Mulatu Of Ethiopia) recorded several collectable albums back in the 70's; he has now linked up with the Heliocentrics to record this intriguing and interesting album. The mix of East Africa flavours – horns, rhythms, themes permeates tracks like 'Cha Cha', 'Addis Black Widow' and 'Mulatu'. They also have hints of Jazz and are quite hypnotic – check also the percussive riff laden 'Live From The Tigre Lounge'. It is the horns that give the music it hypnotic flavour and nowhere is this better illustrated than on the haunting 'Dewel'. Try the Coltrane flavoured 'Anglo Ethio Suite'.

DOWN TO THE BONE – FUTURE BOOGIE CD £16.95
Excellent album from Stuart Wade and the boys, the musicianship is top notch with tight horns and wicked rhythm section.  Grooves like ‘Future Boogie’ and ‘Spiderlegs’ are full-on funky Jazz barnstormers.  Try the infectious riff laden ‘We’ve Always Got The Music’, the heavier ‘Smash And Grab’ and slower ‘In The Pocket’. There are 3 quality vocal tracks – ‘Should’ve Been You’ and the gorgeous ‘The Brighter Side’ feature the awesome Hil St Soul, whilst ‘Good To Me’ has a scat from Roy Ayers, who also adds a vibes solo on a Brand New Heavies style cut.  All-round this is DTTB’s best album for several years.  Must also mention Neil Angilley’s keyboard work and Tony Remy’s ultra funky rhythm guitar.

UNA MAS TRIO – RITMO DEL FUTURE CD £13.95
Excellent Latin album traverses many different styles of the music. From the kicking 'Latin Brother', the more contemporary 'Nova Do Brasil' to the quaint grooves of 'Balkumba' and 'Que Pasara', the group (not just a trio) excel. There is upbeat feel to the CD that is truly infectious. Love the infectious 'Son Montuno' with its hypnotic piano groove and great Latin horns. Malaika adds her distinctive vocals to the aptly entitled 'Move My Feet', whilst Eduardo Flores adds a fluent vocal to the percussive 'Margarita'.

SISTER BOSSA VOL 8 CD £16.95
This Strong selection of cool jazzy cuts with a Brazilian slant covers a wide spectrum of styles and traverses several eras musically.  Love the driving ‘Deep Down In My Soul’ with its tremendously powerful groove.  On the Italian style Jazz tip check the percussive ‘Yeah’ by Modulo 6 and Aaron Tesser and The New Jazz Affair’s languid ‘Everlasting Rose’.  Italian Secret Service’s ‘Control Yourself’ is an intriguing mix of Jazz, Funk and Brazilian with an intoxicating flute lead and catchy chorus.  Nu Braz’s ‘Aeromonica’ (Soulstance Bit Mix) and Kaleido’s ‘Pais Brasilero’ have a more contemporary dance vibe.  Released by Italian label Irma, several of the tracks have a House/ Dance tinge – vibrant and will get a party moving.

NATHAN HAINES – RIGHT NOW CD £13.95
UK based, sax man from New Zealand release a fine and diverse set.  The semi-broken Nu Soul of ‘Tell Me What You’re Feeling’ (also Domu remix is awesome!)  features Vanessa Freeman as does the wicked groove of ‘Creation Calling’ (Check Nathan’s flute solo).  Marlena Shaw adds a classy touch with her half spoken half sung contribution on the title cut.  Tana Waipara adds an impassioned vocal on ‘Home’ whilst the mid-tempo ‘Today’ has a Mizell brothers vibe with its lazy summer feel.  ‘Talkin Around’ is a fine Jazz Funk tune.  Probably Nathan’s strongest album so far.

GREGG KARUKAS – GK CD £16.95
Gregg Karukas' delicate piano style is perfectly suited to relaxed Smooth Jazz. On grooves like 'Daylight' and the sublime 'Manhattan' Gregg is joined by an unnamed sax player and by Michael O'Neill on guitar. 'Napa Road' has an 80's Fusion feel complete with horn section. Similar in feel is foot tapper 'Coyote Party'. Jessy J adds her wistful sax to the laid-back 'Soul Kisses' Tracks like 'Jamba Samba' – love Ricardo Silveira's guitar solo - and 'Floating In Bahia' have subtle and smooth Latin textures, the latter features Rick Braun. Overall, 'GK' is a fine wholly instrumental Smooth Jazz album.

CHUCK LOEB – BETWEEN 2 WORLD CD £16.95
Smooth Jazz guitarist Chuck Loeb proves his versatility on this broad selection of relaxed Jazz grooves. Whilst undeniably smooth, Chuck explores other parts of his musical persona. 'Let's Go' has a Larry Carlton type of feel, whilst 'Mittens' swings softly with Chuck in particularly eloquent form supported some excellent trumpet and sax work from Till Bronner and Eric Marienthal respectively. 'Let's Play' has a Benson feel – like one of his jazzier CTI pieces. Carmen Cuesta adds a sultry vocal to the Brazilian tinged 'So Tinha de Que Ser Com Voce'.

JTQ (JAMES TAYLOR QUARTET) – NEW WORLD CD £13.95
JTQ albums can vary in the style they adopt. This one is a Jazz Funk set has the feel of early 70's Donald Byrd in places, though the production is not as full as the Mizell Brothers. Try the breezy 'Rochester Raining' with its flute and subtle trumpet lead, also try the equally deft 'New World; trumpeter Nick Shaft excels and has the soulful touch of Byrd or Freddie Hubbard. On the vocal tip, 'Same Old Fool' has a great mid-tempo groove (Roy Ayers tinge) and is the standout. 'Stonemason' is a stomping funky Hammond piece, equally pulsating is the Jazz Funk barnstormer 'Hotwire'. Heavier, funkier and slower is 'Jazz Café Theme'. There are a couple of straighter Jazz tunes in 'Blue Lady' and 'Inner Mystic Love'. This is not a Hammond feature set, as James plays piano, Rhodes and clavinet too. Outstanding album.

AARON TESSER AND THE NEW JAZZ AFFAIR – LOOKING AHEAD CD £16.95
For those who lover the dance Jazz put out by labels like Schema, this album will be a real delight. With tracks like the vocal 'Feel', the tunes flow like wine. The guitar led 'One Plus One' is a fine instrumental with full-on percussion. 'Instant Love' has a kicking bass line, then develops into a vocal/ scat Jazz dancer that swings seductively with a fine mellow trumpet solo. The female vocal adds a different feel to the waltz 'Ocobop', 'Everlasting Rose' adds a Latin spin.

NATION OF MULTIVERSE JAPANESE CD £29.95
This contemporary Spiritual Jazz album harks back to the sound of Strata East/ Black Jazz/ Nimbus. Heavy tracks like 'African Village' and the tough 'Hanikami' have deep running grooves. On the lighter side try 'Show Me The Sunshine In Your Breast Pocket' or the waltz tempoed 'Butterfly' featuring the vocal talents of Monday Michiru. 'Real And Unreal Space' adds a freer vibe, whilst the awesome 'Dee-Dah' is back on the spiritual groove. The horn section is particularly strong. Yet another great Japanese Jazz album!

SOCIALIZED JAZZ BEATS VOL 2 CD £16.95
The second volume in this series continues in similar vein to the first, highlighting the best music that Dutch label Social Beats has to offer. From the three excellent remixes from the Houdinis CD ('My Lost Hands Crumbles'(Eddie Roberts remix), 'Catch 22 Hot' (Jazzinvaders remix) and 'No More Yesterdays' (Gianni De Luca remix) to the two gems from the last Jazz Invaders set – Day By Day and wicked Diesler remix of 'Perugia' this album is groove after groove. Check also Frank Montis' cool 'Illusions and the quirky 'Bop The Ragtop' from Jaffa. Phil Martin's remix of Praful's 'Corpo Suado' has an Eleanor Rigby like twist. Awesome.

DJ LUBI PRESENTS SALSA DURA CD £13.95
Lovers of Salsa, Afro Cuban, Latin or just great music will love this compilation. Put together by DJ Lubi Jovanic, this selection of recent recordings will get dancers dancing and has a tempo and flow that marks this out as a special CD. From the opener 'Oscuridad' by Johnny Polanco to furious horn and percussion driven grooves like 'Atrevete' by Bio Ritmo, the selection is spot on. La 33's 'Gozalo' is ridiculously catchy – its melody and piano riff – wow! All 13 tracks will get the party jumping and is perfect for dancers and romantics alike. This is music to smile with.

PAUL BROWN AND MARC ANTOINE – FOREIGN EXCHANGE CD £16.95
This fine selection of relaxed smooth grooves is a great backdrop for the guitar playing of Paul Brown and Marc Antoine. Wholly instrumental, slick grooves like 'Wine Night, the clipped rhythm of 'Brother Earl' and the title track flow seamlessly. It is however the quality of the simple melodies that stands out – 'What About Bob' illustrates this – nothing fancy or complex, yet the music is most enjoyable. Paul Brown's production is as easy on the ear as ever; his style almost defines Smooth Jazz. Paul's playing is exquisitely smooth too, whilst Marc Antoine adds a touch of French/Spanish flavours too – check 'French Connection' and 'Bridges Of Paris'.

INDIGO JAM UNIT – PIRATES JAPANESE CD £29.95
Storming Japanese Jazz album performed by a trio – but sounds like a fuller band due to the quality of the rhythm section and arrangements. Heavy basslines – check 'Pirates' and the urgent 'Time' as well as the thunderous jazzy 'Rumble'. 'Giant Baby' has hints of Pharoah Sanders but has another wicked bassline running through its core. Try also the lighter and mellower 'Himawari' and the delicate 'Raindrop'. This is an album where every single track has something to offer.

Heavy Japanese Jazz dance, this sensational album is from the same label as Indigo Jam Unit and is an equally strong. The first two tracks 'Smoky' and the urgent and tough 'Crisis' with its high octane percussion and deep running bass line. 'Step' builds to a crescendo, built around the bass/ percussion interplay. The groove continues with 'Encounter' and the mystical 'Shoulder' – check the acoustic bass on this!

Excellent Jazz dance compilation, this Japanese release kicks from the off on cuts like Yoshiaki Kayano Sextet's 'Beans Dance' and Gen Hosokawa Nice Groove Cool Jazz Unit's 'Yellow Temptation'. More familiar artists: Native with 'The Edge Of Daylight' and Quasimode' with 'Giant Black Shadow' are wickedly jazzy grooves – tough and infectious. Jabberloop's '6th Continent' has a haunting vibe. Lalanja's 'Robe Of Feathers has a Monday Michiru thing with a Latin twist. Novo Tempo's atmospheric 'Circles' (Richard & Annabel mix) has a Pharoah/ Lonnie Liston Smith influence. Exquisite comp.

IDEA 6 STEPPIN OUT CD + DVD £15.95
From the same label as Andrea Pozza and Fabio Nobile, this wonderful Jazz dance set has more straight Jazz feel to it. The arrangements and musicianship are of the highest order. The vocal 'Tune Up' sung by Francesca Sortino (voice of Gabin) has that cool Jazz swing to it. 'Mr G.B' is a strong mover, whilst 'O M Blues' has a modal vibe. Francesca returns on the waltz 'Bell's –I'll be Waiting' with a wispish vocal performance. 'Junior Is Back', 'Tempora 4/4' and 'Dance Of The Crickets' are wicked instrumentals augmented by the haunting rove of 'Taboo'. This album is a grower, it just gets better with every play.

This album reflects the various styles hinted at in the title. Standout is the cover of Stevie's 'Pastime Paradise'. Check the down tempo Soul of 'Giving Me Love', the more up-tempo and compelling groove of 'Relax' or the subtle House tinged 'Amuyada' (Mustafa Sol Do Brasil mix). The Rhodes based 'Three Degrees Of Separation' has subtle Modaji/ Naked Music NYC vibe those entrances. 'Gengere' reflects the multitude of styles on the set, whereas 'It Makes Sense' takes a quirky Hip Hop tinged route. The contrasting genres give this album a refreshingly different feel and though not all of tracks work as well as the Latin and Soul tunes

FANTASTICS – MIGHTY RIGHTEOUS CD £13.95 LP £13.95
UK based Funk/ Soul Jazz unit deliver a fine set that mixes its influences from Deep funk, James Brown to Hammond led grooves a la Jimmy Smith and Jimmy McGriff. Noel McKoy adds distinctive vocals to 'Soul Child' (a la Bobby Byrd 'I Know You Got Soul') and 'I Can't Dance With You' that builds to a crescendo. Tracks like 'The Doctor Is In' and 'Kinshasa' have a Prestige/ late 60's Blue Note organ groove as does the awesome 'Stay Hip'. If you enjoyed the Root Source album of a couple of years back, this will appeal.

NILS – UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL CD £15.95
Nils has a deserved reputation among Smooth Jazz fans for producing albums of the highest quality. This, his third will please those who appreciated his first two. Grooves like 'Jazz Cruise'. 'Getting Hooked' and the breezy 'Happy To C U' are typically West Coast style smooth tunes. Vocal choruses add another dimension to 'Soul Mates' and '60 10 29'. Nils' playing shines on the mellower 'Catalina' and again on the lovely melody on 'Until I See You Again'. Try also the pleasant 'East Bay'. The use of a real drummer (Ricky Lawson) and bass guitar give the album a vibrant feel that a similar set with programming would not have.

PIECES OF A DREAM – SOUL INTENT CD £16.95
Pieces Of A Dream sustain their consistently high quality Smooth Jazz albums with this entirely instrumental set. After 30 years making music together, drummer Curtis Harmon and keyboard maestro James K Lloyd have an almost telepathic understanding. Grooves like 'Sway On' and 'Soul Intent' and 'Vision Accomplished' are right on that PoD vibe. 'Step On It' is a catchy foot tapper, 'Stand Up' gets funkier and 'Things Are Looking Up' has a 'Mister Magic' feel to the groove. 'Soul Intent' is a real treat for their fans and fans of Smooth jazz.

JEFF KASHIWA – BACK IN THE DAY CD £16.95
Popular Smooth Jazz sax player releases a set of ultra smooth mainly instrumental grooves. 'You're The One' and 'When It Feels Good' combine accessible melodies with straight forward head nodding grooves. There is a welcome feel good factor to these tunes with cuts like 'Meet You The There' and 'Free Flyer' have an optimistic vibe. 'The Attraction' has a wonderful melody and exemplifies Jeff's fine tuned ear for the melody. 'Back In The Day' is in the mainstream of Smooth Jazz and appeals primarily to lovers of that genre.

ERIC ESSIX – BIRMINGHAM CD £15.95
Guitar player Eric Essix records his first album in years – and it is a superb set of Smooth Jazz grooves. The title song, the highly melodic and percussive 'Hang Time' and the smouldering 'Big Valley' that builds up a head of smooth steam are among the highlights. An excellent smooth interpretation of John Handy's Jazz Funk 'Hard Work' gives the classic a new lease of life. Eric's playing possesses an exquisite clarity to it – hints in style of Grant Green. Must also mention the sax work of Kelley O'Neal and it is nice to have a 'real' drummer on board in this case Lil John Roberts.

DARREN RAHN – TALK OF THE TOWN CD £15.95
Highly melodic Smooth Jazz stylist, Darren Rahn is quickly establishing himself as a serious player on the scene. His sax playing is reminiscent of Euge Groove, Steve Cole or Warren Hill. This selection of self-penned melodies and Soul/ pop classics suits that style effortlessly. Of the covers check Chaka's 'Whatcha Gonna Do For Me', Hall and Oates 'I Can't Go For That' and Patrice Rushen's 'Forget Me Nots'. Of the originals try the easy on the ear groove of 'With you By My Side' featuring guitarist Tim Bowman. Bob James adds his delicate keyboards to understated 'Easy Does It' and Jeff Lorber's funky touch ignites the slowish 'Secret Crush'. The standout is the funky Smooth Jazz opener 'Talk Of Two Cities'.

DOMINIC AMATO – FRESH FROM THE GROOVE CD £15.95
New name to us, saxman Dominic Amato has a fresh optimistic sound. Cuts like 'Exciting Times', 'Nico's Smile' and the driving 'Fresh From The Groove' have a vibrancy all their own. 'Jamaica' has a Caribbean/ Latin feel with Dominic in good form over the catchy groove. 'Out Of The Gate' continues the feel good factor, whilst 'Jazzy's Flow' slips into a mellow groove accompanied by a simple melody. 'Letsjuschill' is a nice slowed down groove.

PHILIPPE SAISSE – PHILIPPE SAISSE CD £16.95
Classy Smooth Jazz pianist releases a typically stylish and largely instrumental album. Smooth grooves like the jaunty 'From Nowhere To Now Here' and the highly melodic 'The Rover' showcase his talents perfectly. 'Roppongi Blues' adds a jazzier flavour. 'Billy's Blues' has a Larry Carlton type feel. It is the more straightforward Smooth Jazz such as 'Topanga Moon Dance' that suits his playing. The supporting cast includes appearances from Kirk Whalum, Rick Braun, Marc Antoine and Jeff Golub.
