Recommended releases of the week – 22nd August 2014

It’s a quiet week for new releases but there are some interesting new titles including a Gospel/Soul set from Wess Morgan, welcome return from Veteran Soulman Bobby Patterson and great funky smooth Jazz album from Cindy Bradley. There are superb reissues on CD from Leon Ware, 9th Creation, Wilson Pickett and High Inergy.

We are now taking pre-orders for Kem and Shaun Escoffrey due next week, and Soul Togetherness 2014, Carmen Lundy superb new set and the third Carlos Garnett CD on our own label all due in September. You can pr-order all of these at this link.

Please note that we are open Friday (10-7), Saturday  (10-7) and Sunday (11-5) as usual but closed on Bank Holiday Monday. Back open normal hours 26th August 10-7.

We are delighted to announce that Carmen Lundy will be at Soul Brother store on Saturday 18th October 1-2pm signing copies of her new album ‘Soul to Soul’ and her last album   ‘Changes’ our Jazz album of the year 2012. Please put that date in your diary to come and meet the living legend.

We are sad to learn of the passing of veteran TK Record label founder Henry Stone and Idris Muhammad one of the funkiest Jazz drummers of all time. Malcolm has written a tribute to each of them which I hope you will enjoy reading.
