Recommended releases of the week – 10th October 2014

There are some strong albums this week including a great new set from Calvin Richardson and at last the long awaited Chelsea Wilson CD and LP, which is superb. There is a very limited edition Algebra Blessett CD, good new albums from Willie Clayton and rising Jazz artist Elizabeth Shepherd, and an incredible value 4CD collection of Masters of Work House Masters.

CD Reissues include many albums for the first time on the format including Ullanda McCullough, Ronnie Dyson, Fosters Sylvers, D J Rogers and for the Finnish fusion classic from Olli Ahvenlathi (also on vinyl). The New Orleans Soul comp is also very good.

To tie in the release of the Northern Soul film next week , there is an amazing 14 x 7″ Box set featuring 28 Northern classics with a 60 pg book. There is also a 224 page book about the film and the Northern Soul Scene.

Also don’t overlook Gedeon Luke and The People, this guy is going to be massive. The album ‘Live Free and Love’ reveals another strong independent Soul talent backed by some incredible musicians. Gedeon will be in the UK later in the month and on the show on Sunday 26th October. He will be appearing on Jools Holland show and performing at the Brooklyn Bowl at the O2 on 29th. We hope to arrange an in store signing with earlier that day around lunchtime.
