Recommended releases 14th November 2014

Its a good week for new releases and reissues this week, with some really good albums.

New releases

Anthony Hamilton makes his mark with different interpretations of holidays songs, his voice still sounds wonderful. Two veteran singers, gospel drenched soul singer Rance Allen and New Orleans stalwart Willie West have made good new albums that will appeal to their fans.
Two of the best Jazz albums of the year Gerardo Frisina’s Movement and Takuya Kuroda ‘Rising Son’ get welcome Double Vinyl releases.
Also check out the two pre-order items from Emma Donovan and Dawn Pemberton: two really strong female funky soul offerings. Out mid-late Nov.

Reissues

The Re-issues are of the highest standard with great two albums on one CD’s from Eugene Record and Mandrill (what an incredible band they were fusing Funk, Soul, Latin and Jazz).
The forth Carlos Garnett Muse recording ‘Cosmos Nucleus’ is issued for the first time on CD on our own label and includes his underground club classic ‘Mystery of Ages’. Two of Herbie Hancock great albums that were only issued in Japan in the 70’s are now available on CD.
Soul Jazz record present two fantastic comps ‘Disco’ (Disco/Boogie 78-82) and ‘Black Fire New Spirits’ (Spiritual and Free jazz) with associated coffee table books featuring some great cover art. There is also a reissue of a classic Willie West 45 in a picture sleeve.

Don’t miss the chance to grab some great bargains with over 150 Atlantic Soul/r&b and Warner Jazz titles available on Jap Cd’s at £6.99 each. Many of these albums form the foundation of our music. Jap Cd’s have always been superior pressings to Uk or US pressing so too be able to buy them at budget prices is a real cue.
I hope that you enjoyed the show last Sunday, if you missed it you can catch it on the podcast here. I hope that you can join me this Sunday on solar /sky 0129 at 10am to midday for another edition of the Soul Brother Selection.
Have a great weekend
