New releases
It is probably the biggest week for new releases of the year so far. The Annual Soul Togetherness 2015 CD is now in and is very good, Nicole Willis has made what is probably her best album to date and Tony Momrelle makes his first solo album in many years, and Soul Lounge 12 gives you great value with 3CDs of great music There are good funky soul albums from the New Mastersounds and Haggis Horns.
Matthew Halsall has made his best album to date featuring Soul Poet Josephine Oniyama who adds another dimension to his music, this will be one of top Jazz albums of the year. Kamasi Washington incredible ‘The Epic’ is now available in a superb 3LP set with lavish packaging, grab your copy whilst they are here as this is likely to sell out fast. The ever reliable Jeff Lorber returns with another funky jazz set.
Reissues and comps
Johnny Hammond classic ‘Gears’ album is now available with additional tracks and remastered on CD and high quality Double LP. Bettye Swann’s best recordings for the Money, Atlantic and Capitol labels are brought together on one CD. Feelin Nice 3 is another good selection of obscure Funk and Funky Soul tracks, limited initial vinyl copies have a bonus 45. There are two new 45’s from the Athens of the North label, an unissued Funky double A sider from Second Re$$urrection, and first time on 45 two great tracks from The Tonistics.
Albums of the Month
We have now completed our Albums of the month feature for October which you can see here.
It includes a few pre-order titles from St Germain due next week, and Jesse Fischer and Nat Birchall later in the month.
Also some key Japanese CDs due late next week. A fuller list of these will be sent out early next week.
The Soul Brother/Expansion CD sale is proving very popular, take the chance to buy these classic albums and compilation at a bargain £9.99 each or 5 for £40 whilst stocks last of these now deleted titles.

Tahirah Memory In Store
We are delighted to announce that the lovely Tahirah Memory will be in store on Sunday 18th October at 2pm to sign copies of her great album ‘Pride’ one of the Soul albums of 2015. I look foward to seeing many of you on the day to meet and greet her, and for photo opportunities etc. If you can’t make it but would like a signed copy you can pre-order a copy here.
Wilton Felder R.I.P
We are saddened to learn of the passing of Wilton Felder of the Crusaders aged 75. Wilton made numerous great records with the band and of course the amazing ‘Inherit the Wind’ feat Bobby Womack. Malcolm has written a full tribute which you can read here.Radio show
