New Releases
It is a strong week for new releases, reissue CDs and 45’s this week.
Portia Monique has made a very good new soul album with Reel People, excellent up tempo Soul music. Japanese Jazz group Jazz Collective land their 3rd album which is another good mixture of Dancefloor Jazz and boogie tunes. Their are also good new soul releases from Danny Toeman and Imaani, Christmas albums from Maysa and Earth Wind and Fire and a welcome return from the Headhunters Bassman Paul Jackson.
Reissues
Chuck Cissel’s two Arista albums are now on a 2 on 1 CD, and their are some good compilations from Ace records including a raid on the Westbound Vaults revealing some lesser known and un-issued gems. There is also the next volume of the popular 80’s groove series Masterpiece now up to volume 18 !.
7″ singles
Some great 45’s this week with Carolyn Franklin’s two gems on 45 for the first time, the 2-stepper ‘Sunshine Holiday’ and funky ‘Deal with it’ . First time on vinyl also for the Sam Dees 2 sides on a limited edition 45. Check the other Kent 45’s as well, and a new one from Soul Junction.

Gedeon Luke – one to watch!
Gedeon Luke and the people hit London during the week. Their show at the Brooklyn Bowl showed the great energy and excitement this man is bringing back to soul music, maybe a reincarnation of Sly Stone. You can watch him on the Jools Holland show tonight.
Gedeon signed a limited amount of CD’s which are available here whilst stocks last.
His album Live Free and Love is not officially released until next year but we still have advanced copies available now – buy here. We also managed to catch up with them for his only UK radio interview on the show last week , which you can now hear on the podcast.
