Lisa has established herself as one of the leading female vocalists of her generation making some great albums , her distinctive sweet voice harmonising with positive message lyrics over some nice organic grooves. The mid tempo groovers 'Let Go' , 'Please Help Me' and 'Thank You' will keep your feet moving., but it is on the slower tracks where Lisa's sweet voice really shines like on the outstanding 'Manifest' and 'Heaven' , and 'Who I Am' , 'Makeover' , 'Now I Get It' and 'Alright'.

Really good new soul album written and produced by Eddie 'Sea' Caldwell in Chicago, featuring both male and female vocalists. . The mid tempo modern soul dancer 'India' ft the vocals Aaron Sledge is a standout. The percussive Organic soul 'Sister' , the stepper 'Underwater Paradise' and the dancer 'Changing People' feature the vocals of Shauntia Toussaint. The groove driven 'Fire' features Roger Harris and the funkier 'Afro ' ft Aaron Mills. Nice album.

TAMIKA NICOLE – ART OF LETTING GO CD £14.95
Strong and varied soul album from the powerful voiced Oakland based soulstress mainly produced by Jamie Hawkins. The album has been recorded over the past 4 years and features a good band.
'Get It Right' starts slow and then builds into a killer modern soul dancer, 'All I Need' is another good dancer. 'Chocolate Caramel Brown' is a nice mid tempo groover with a good B Line and 'Down ; is a catchy mid tempo upper mid tempo groover. 'Enough' is a melodic mid tempo ballad with great vocals, whilst the similar paced 'Only' has a fuller production. This album grows on you with every play.

2nd volume of Solar radio's Phil Driver Soul Unisgned features predominately 'Modern Soul' dancers like Nash Reed 'Natural ' GLO 'Don't Take Me For Granted', Unkle Funkle 'Gonna Give It To You' , Judderbass 'Everybody Knows' and Maxi 'Stepping Out' . Destruments 'Take A Closer Look' and Calument 'Keep The Funk Alive' provide a good contrast with a rare groove sound featuring some nice horns. Kevin East 'When Are You Gonna' has an 80's boogie feel to it . Solid comp that will keep the feet moving.

If you like your Funk from the 00s rough ready and raw, this comp will fit the bill. Great take on Funk Inc’s ‘Chicken Lickin’ by The Fantastics.  Mauri Bailey raucous vocal suits the JB influenced ‘Soul Pop’.  ‘Izzy Come Izzy Go’ by The Funk revolution has an Afro beat groove.  Tynnes Well & The Magic Fountains’ ‘Stop The Madness’ adds a jazzy flavour, whilst Ben Martin Trio’s ‘Brasil No 7’ is quirky (hints of Ska Jazz and much more).  Killer tune id from The Karachi Prison Band ‘Put Some Grit In It’ with its early 70’s Kool and the Gang feel to it.

GEMMA GENAZZANO - SI ME QUIERES/IF YOU LOVE ME CD £14.95
Great smooth jazzy soul album from Spanish singer brilliantly produced by Marlon Saunders.
The musical backdrop is incredible , a real throwback to sophisticated 70's soul , real instruments with piano, strings, horns and great backing vocals. Gemma sings sweetly and seductively in both Spanish and English. 'Enamorada' has a simlar backing to Marvin's 'I Want You' , 'Way Way Down' is a slowish mid tempo groover,' Talk To Me' is a nice mid tempo but the killer track is the duet with Marlon 'Show Me Who You are' a mid tempo stepper with a great sax solo that could well be a future classic. Beautiful album to unwind to.
