The follow-up to ‘Rhythm Is What Makes Jazz Jazz’ has a similar approach and vibe. The mix of Bossa influenced rhythms and jazzy grooves is infectious. ‘Bossa Corcovado’ has an urgent JB style groove, whilst ‘Tangossa’ has a cooler feel. ‘Serious Soul’ has a Tower Of Power feel to it. There are also remixes of two tracks from the first album ‘But Rich Rhythms (Club Des Belugas Remix) and Nassau Jam (Smoove’s Funky Jam Remix).
ESPERANZA SPALDING – CHAMBER MUSIC SOCIETY CD
Acoustic bass maestro and vocalist Esperanza Spalding has been creating quite a stir for over the past few weeks with this intriguing album consisting of two sets of trios – one Jazz based, one with a classical influence. The ballad ‘Apple Blossom’ is a duet with Milton Nascimento. Jobim’s ‘Inutil Paisagem’ and the song ‘winter Sun are delicate and delightful, whilst ‘Chacarera’ is a lovely Latin swayer.
