BILLY PAUL – WHEN LOVE IS NEW CD £6.95
This superb Philly album highlighted Paul’s romantic side with the classic ‘Let’s Make A Baby’ often credited for a surge in the birth rate! This organ trio album was originally released under Don Patterson’s name in 1964.  Patterson shows a deft touch on the Hammond and Ervin’s fiery tenor sax (sometimes compared to Coltrane) make this album sound more than trio.  ‘Hip Cake Walk’ and ‘Donald Duck’ have that carefree mid 60’s swagger.  As bonus tracks – from the same sessions – there are 5 bonus tracks including 4 from an album called ‘The Exciting New Organ Of Don Patterson’.  ‘S’Bout time’, ‘Oleo’ and a superb twist of ‘When Johnny Comes Marching Home’ make this selection essential for all lovers of the Hammond.
