'Can This Be Real ' is a really good harmony ballad, 'You Bring Out The Best In Me' a mid tempo shuffler and 'Try Love Again' an orchestrated 2 stepper. 'What's Happening Now' and 'Things Will Be Better Tomorrow' are social commentary mid tempo's. 'Heaven Right Here On Earth'
is a quality Hutson track, 'Count On Me' a nice 2- stepper and 'Give Love A Try' a great ballad.
Bonus tracks incl their cover of Curtis 'Eddie Should Have Known Better' and the dancers 'I Think I Found That Girl' and 'Get it Over With'. Classic Sophisticated 70's soul.

2 southern Soul sisters who recorded for Malaco. Jewel Bass released a few singles for the label over a about 6 years including the ballad ‘All Good Things Must Come To An End’ plus the ‘Mr Big Stuff’ like ‘I Tried It And I Liked It’. Try also the Discofied ‘Let Your Love Rain Down On Me’. There are five unreleased performances including the mid-tempo ‘Seeing You Again’. Dorothy Moore became famous for her ballads like ‘Misty Blue’ but she recorded several singles for Malaco released through Avco, GSF and for Chimneyville. Southern gems like ‘Cry Like A Baby’ and the funky Soul of ‘I Know’.

This album from 1976 recorded for Atlantic is surprising. Unlike much of Cherry’s work, this album is not ‘out there’. It is more of a mainstream Jazz Funk album produced by Narada Michael Walden and features a young Marcus Miller and Michael Brecker. The album is renowned for the break ‘Universal Mother’ but try also the Africa tinged groove ‘Karmapa Chenno’ and the mellow ‘California’. The opus ‘Journey Of Milarepa/ Dhanti/ The Ending Of Movement-Liberation’ is an Brazilian/ Airto inspired groove.

First time on CD for this superb album from the unique singer/songwriter, recorded in 1974 his last for the Sussex label. The sound is fuller than his earlier work with great electric keyboards and strings and even the harp of Dorothy Ashby. 'You' has an incisent driving rhythm yet retains its melody, 'The Same Love That Made me Laugh', and 'Ruby lee' are more relaxed but still have a groove. 'Can We Pretend' is an excellent catchy string laden slow track ft Jose Feliciano , and 'Make A Smile For me' is even more gentle.
Bill is on point lyrically and vocally throughout. Classic 70's soul.
